Delegate Guide
Q: Who is a Delegate?
A: A delegate is any person who would like to attend the conference, as in listen to the talks, visit the exhibition and participate in the Birds Of Feather(BOF) sessions and attend workshops and workouts.
Q: Does a delegate have to have any qualification?
A: FOSS.IN is for anyone who is interested in FOSS. However, understand that the focus is contribution to, not use of, FOSS. So if your objective is to contribute (in terms of writing code or documentation, testing, developing artwork, etc.) then FOSS.IN is for you. FOSS.IN has no policy that excludes anyone from attending the event – there is no “qualification” other than your interest in FOSS.
Q: What do I have to do to be a delegate?
A: To register online as a delegate, go here. Online delegate registration will open till the day before the event starts.
Q: How much do I have to pay to attend the event as a delegate?
A: We currently have an early bird offer of Rs.750 for individual delegates. For Corporate Delegates the price is Rs.4,000.
If you are a student, you can register online as a student for only Rs.500 but you must carry your CURRENT student photo ID with you for verification.
Q: How do I make the payment for the event?
A: The online registration for delegates will start in the first week of November and closes 30th November. You can pay online using your VISA, MasterCard or AMEX debit or credit cards. On the 15th of December the registrations will start at 9:00 AM.
For on the spot registrations, payment will be accepted in cash only. Please make sure that you carry cash, and correct change. We do not issue receipts – your delegate badge is your receipt. If you need a receipt or invoice, please register online or on the spot as a corporate delegate.
The corporate delegate amount is Rs.3,000 per person. Please make sure that your company name is specified in your online registration. For on the spot registration we accept cash, local company (public limited or private limited) cheques and Demand Drafts along with a letter from the company with an official letter head. Security
As a security measure, we request delegates not to bring any bags to the event other than laptop bags. Note that any laptop bag carried into the venue will have to be opened by security personnel. We apologise for the inconvenience, but the safety of our delegates is paramount.
Every attendee is required to carry a valid proof of identification that corresponds to his/her name on the ticket and badge.
Also note that we have given instructions to our security people to apprehend and evict any person at the venue who does not have a delegate, volunteer, sponsor or press badge clearly displayed. This eviction will take place without needing to refer to the organizers – if someone is not wearing a badge and gets evicted, it is their own fault.
Volunteers
Q: I would like to volunteer my services for smooth functioning of the event. What do I do?
A : Please read the Volunteer Guide to know more about volunteering at FOSS.IN.

A: No problem – you can get a new one by paying Rs.1000 at the counter. (In short, don’t lose your delegate card).

A: No problem, for an extra Rs1000, we’ll let you in anyway. Please fill the form at the counter.
Q: Will you take credit cards or cheques at the venue?
A: No. Please bring crisp 100 buck notes. The overheads of thousands of small non-cash payments would kill us.

A: No you cannot. The name on your ticket must match your valid proof of identification, keep your ticket and badge with you always.
