Contributing to YUI |
| Abstract | A couple of years ago, Yahoo! released its javascript interaction libraries under the BSD licence for anyone to use, modify and redistribute. Earlier this year, the terms were extended to allow third party contributors to get their code back into the YUI code base and call themselves YUI contributors. This talk will go over what it takes to become a YUI contributor, and throw in some ideas of what kind of code you may want to add. |
| Pre-requisites | Knowledge of Javascript, and prototypal inheritance. Reading up on Douglas Crockford's work would be a good way to get up to speed. | |
| Speaker Profile | Philip Tellis is a geek working in the Exceptional Performance team at Yahoo! in Sunnyvale, California. As part of his work, he studies the performance impact of various design and implementation choices on web applications. He also maintains the YUI date formatter, and is a member of several FOSS projects. In his free time, he cycles and experiments with kitchen ingredients. | |
