talloc: The Power of C |
| Abstract | malloc() and free() are nice: talloc is better. Without giving up the power and fine control we're used to in C, we can talloc_free ourselves from the bug-gnawed burden of micromanaging resources. More importantly, the hierarchy of our programs' data becomes explicit, and wonderous insights emerge. This is your chance to see 1500 lines of code which will change the way you write your next non-trivial C userspace program. |
| Pre-requisites | A good knowledge of C. A thirst for new ways of doing things. | |
| Speaker Profile | Rusty Russell is a Linux kernel developer. Long ago he developed ipchains then netfilter and iptables: more recently he's hacked on disparate projects including talloc, tdb, wesnoth and xen. Among other non-coding rolues, he founded the first Australian Linux conference and served as Linux Australia's IP Policy adviser. | |
