The Virtuous Cycle: Sun's FOSS Philosophy and Strategy |
| Abstract |
The origins of FOSS lay in the origins of the computer industry; the growth of the FOSS community globally has seemed to be slow and linear. Until now. Today, we see that in fact its growth curve is a slow-burn exponential. What are the factors that are driving change? What pressures will the change impose of the global FOSS community? How do we cope as the "sacred cow" of FOSS faces unprecedented change? This talk explores the issues and suggests a straw-man for how the future will unfold.
