VBA Macros - Interoperability

Abstract When MS Office documents are opened in OpenOffice.org any VBA macros present are unusable. Novell & Sun are currently working together to provide VBA macro interoperability support. The solution will focus on combining the best parts of the opensource VBA interoperability solution from Novell and the proprietary solution from Sun.
I have worked on this area under the mentorship of Noel Power(noel dot power at novell dot com) and would like to present a tutorial on extending the VBA ompatibility API model by creating/modifying the language independent object specification (IDL) files and migrating JAVA implementation objects from Sun's newly open-sourced compatibility API model into the new C++ VBA support framework.
Pre-requisites 1.Basic Linux Development tools like make, patch,.so files etc. 2.C++ Language skills
Speaker Profile Rajesh is a faculty member of Comp Sc Dept,NBKRIST, Vidyanagar(www.nbkrist.org).He has been involved in OpenOffice.org project on calc & vba bits, and some hacking on embedded linux and open source mobile frameworks. His first steps towards open source was through NOSIP program as an intern in Novell, Bangalore during final sem of engg course in 2005,and then gained experience on embedded linux & mobile technologies when working for Sasken,Bangalore. He is fond of teaching and very much keen about FOSS awareness in rural areas.Trying to encourage students towards FOSS projects and motivate them to get involved in,which is very much operational also through own establishment LiSOR Computer Academy(www.lisor.org) .Finding out new open source projects & opportunities, build the sources to work on or help/initiate others is a good hobby of him.
