Mozilla Localization |
||
| Abstract | As one of the lead Gujarati localizers for Mozilla, Ankit has had a long relationship as a volunteer for the Mozilla project. Ankit will lead the participants through a state of the Mozilla in Indian, mentioning the localization projects for Mozilla's Firefox. Presently, there are 12 localization efforts underway in India. These languages include: Gujarati (finished) Punjabi (finished) Assamese Oriya Sinhala Tamil Telugu Malayalam Kannada Hindi Bengali Marathi Ankit will show each language and then will show what specifically will need to be done for the release of Firefox 3. Ankit will then give an interactive presentation that shows just how new localizers (or even more simply, Indian people with language translation and technical skills) can become involved in the Mozilla project and begin a new language. Ankit's presentation is meant for newcomers who want to learn more about how to get involved. He will take participants through Mozilla's public wiki that documents the individuals to contact and language projects that are taking place in India. He will also focus on what to do with a localization after finding which language a new contributor wants to work on. Ankit will give some beginning instruction on how to find the code in CVS that will be translated and where to begin. The goal of Ankit's presentation will be to "warm up" the participants so that they are ready to begin translating strings of code based on their own language skills. |
