PRINCIPAL SPONSOR
First up, we have the infallible backbone of FOSS.IN - the organization that no one really realizes is so supportive of Free and Open Source Software in India, and that has, since 2001, been our staunchest supporter, and since December 2002 has been an active participant in the process of bringing FOSS to mainstream India, and at every level of society.Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together for the Principal Sponsor of FOSS.IN/2006"

PLATINUM SPONSOR #1
Here is an organization that has been consistent in suprising the FOSS community with lavish gifts of contribution of code. They were Platinum Sponsors at FOSS.IN/2005, and they completely blew us all away with their professional show of FOSS power, both in their well arranged and extremely useful talks and tutorials, as well as their amazingly well designed and informative stall at the expo.
And they blew us away even more with their release of OpenSolaris, contributing a huge pool of valuable technologies and code to the FOSS code pool.
A hard act to follow, but they did it, resoundingly:
Today and as I am writing this, Sun Microsystems is releasing Java as Free and Open Source Software under the GPL. Simultaneously, the previously released Glassfish project now also comes under the GPL.
And FOSS.IN is one of the first events where Sun will be showcasing all this and more, in addition to a series of talks related to the projects.
It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Sumitha Prashanth and her team over all these months, and they ensured that at every turn, FOSS.IN's requirements came first - an attitude that is both rare and welcome with big name sponsors. We, in turn welcome Java to the FOSS world, and thank Sun for making FOSS.IN the first platform in India to mark such an important point in the history of technology.
Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together for the first of our Platinum Sponsors

PLATINUM SPONSOR #2
Up next, a company that not only committed its sponsorship almost six months ago, but did the one thing that allowed the event to happen in first place - paid the sponsorship amount up front months ago to allow us to book the venue (remember the day I made the event announcement?), then sponsored the functioning of the organizing team, including providing conference and communication facilities for meetings (and lots of food!).Never mind that they gave one of their (I presume) valuable employees extended leave of absence to dedicate himself completely to the planning and organization of FOSS.IN, including covering all travel and other related expenses related to this activity.
If you use any form of mobile device, there is a good chance that you have used some of their Mundu range of products (especially my personal favourite - Mundu Radio).
But you may also know them for being the new home of my own long term personal passion - the Simputer and all the fantastic technologies involved with it that the world is just beginning to discover.
And the company is heavily into FOSS - in action and in spirit - it uses, develops and supports FOSS technologies. You will see more of this at FOSS.IN/2006, but for now, put your hands together for our second Platinum Sponsor (and coincidentally my unbelievably supportive employer):
Geodesic Information Systems Limited

There you have them - literally the sun and the earth of FOSS.IN/2006 :)
