Sponsors

As you all know, an event like FOSS.IN/2005 requires help from sponsors to allow it to happen. And the time has come to acknowledge the sponsors of the event. I will start with the primary sponsors of FOSS.IN/2005:

PRINCIPAL SPONSOR

Justifying the ".IN" that we so proudly bear in our event name, the Government of India (DIT/MCIT) is the Principal Sponsor of FOSS.IN/2005. High ranking officials, including Mr.S.Ramakrishnan (Director, CDAC) and Dr.RC Tripathi (Director, IPR Cell, MCIT), will attend the event and interact with the participants in panel discussions and other activities, especially in matters related to technical education.

Members of various technical education bodies will attend the event as well, notably the Registrar of the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) that governs most of the technical education in the state of Karnataka, whose capital Bangalore is. The VTU has already formally endorsed FOSS.IN/2005.

DIAMOND SPONSOR

Since Linus first sat down on his PC to write the first piece of code that would eventually become Linux, the association with our Diamond sponsor has been in place. And this year, they come to FOSS.IN full blast:

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome INTEL (http://www.intel.com) as our Diamond Sponsor.

PLATINUM SPONSORS

Everytime you search for information on the web, you use their work. They have become the antithesis of the closed software world, by opening new horizons for the FOSS world, and they live up to their "Do no Evil" motto with a vengeance:

Our first Platinum Sponsor is GOOGLE (http://www.google.com)

They stepped into the world of FOSS cautiously, yet ensured that the FOSS world became "office worthy" in their very first effort at releasing their work under a FOSS license. Today, they join Linux and BSD in the lineup of FOSS Operating Systems that are being noticed, with their open-sourcing of OpenSolaris.

Our second Platinum Sponsor is SUN MICROSYSTEMS (http://www.sun.com)

GOLD SPONSORS

For many years, this company has been an avid supporter of the FOSS world, by driving and supporting projects, and also making events like our very own Linux Bangalore conferences happen.

Our Gold Sponsor is the HEWLETT PACKARD COMPANY (http://www.hp.com)

SILVER SPONSORS

Few things happen in the Indian IT circles without this company being involved. As a Government organisation, they have repeatedly helped push FOSS initiatives in India that have helped us reach places we could not have reached without them.

Our Silver Sponsor is C-DAC (http://www.cdac.in)

Next, we have the Infrastructure Sponsors:

INTERNET SPONSOR

An event like ours is attended by people who cannot live without being connected to the Internet. It is therefore imperitive that our event has sufficient Internet bandwith available, and we are happy to announce that 8 mbps of internet bandwidth for the event is sponsored by

Our Internet Sponsor, AIRTEL BROADBAND (http://www.airtel-broadband.com)

PC INFRASTRUCTURE:

Our entire event requires a huge number of PCs to be run. All PCs at the event are sponsored by

Our PC Infrastructure Sponsor, CONNOISEUR ELECTRONICS (http://www.connoiseur.com)

And finally, here are the

SUPPORTING SPONSORS

Global Consultants Incorporated (http://www.g-c-i.com)

There are a several more supporting sponsors who may sign up, and I sincerely hope they do. If/when they do, I will notify you all. IAC, the website will be updated continuously to reflect new sponsors.

On behalf of all the people involved in FOSS.IN/2005, we thank all our sponsors for their support, and look forward to interacting with them at the event.
