Abstract There is need to shift from creating nation of exporters to a nation of knowledge workers in every section of economy. A technical, logical solution to serve the often over look customers – the villagers need a different configuration which is simple robust cost effective easily maintainable.
I am presenting here a solution, that we have implemented through project janabhaaratii at SNDT university Mumbai.This basically involves creating a work environment in a village with one computer and diskless workstations.
Using this and our approach for entering Indian languages on Linux platform, we can create contents locally and share globally. The solution involves Indian language enabled linux at the server accessed using Live CD enabled on PCI CARDS.
