Delegates

Q: Who is a Delegate?
A: A delegate is any person who would like to attend the conference, as in listen to the talks and participate in the Birds Of Feather(BOF) sessions.

Q: Does a delegate have to have any qualification?
A: NO. A delegate does not have to have any qualification. As long as he/she wants to attend the conference, he/she is considered a delegate. There are no conditions to be fulfilled to be a delegate.

Q: What do I have to do to be a delegate?
A: If you have to be a delegate, you need to register here.

Q: How do I make the payment for the event?
A: The registration for delegates will start on the 28th of November at the venue at around 2:30 PM. On the 29th of November the registrations will start at 8:00 AM. Please get a printout of the delegate pass while you come for registration and make sure that the full registration code is printed properly. Incomplete registration codes will be considered invalid and the registration charge will be Rs.1000 in such cases.
Payment will be accepted in cash only.

Q: Will I get a certificate for attending FOSS.IN/2005?
A: The attendance at FOSS.IN/2005 is going to be more than 3000 and it is a logistical nightmare to provide participation letters to all.

Q: Will I get any material?
A: The delegates of FOSS.IN/2005 will receive a delegate kit consisting of a T-shirt and food coupons. Any other material will be provided only if the sponsors choose to do so. But after the conference, the slides of the talks will be put up for download.

Venue

Q: What time does the event start?
A: On the 29th of November the inaugural function begins at 9:30 AM. However, the registrations will start much earlier at around 8:00 AM. On the remaining three days the talks will start at 9:30 AM and will go on till 6:30 PM. The special entertainment programs start at 6:30 PM.

Q: How do I get to the venue?
A : Details about reaching the venue can be found here.

Q: How early do I have to come to the venue on the day of the conference?
A : Its always better to come as early as possible to the conference venue, as registration and settling down will take some time on the first day. Registration for FOSS.IN/2005 will begin on the 28th of November.

Q: Will I be provided accomodation if I register as a delegate?
A : No accomodation will be provided for the delegates. It's upto the outstation delegates to arrange for their own accomodation. But some links are provided here for reference.

Volunteers

Q: I would like to volunteer my services for smooth functioning of the event. What do I do?
A : You could register as a volunteer at the volunteer registration page. But, please note, if you register as a volunteer there is a very slight chance that you may actually get to attend the talks. Being a volunteer is quite a demanding thing. Read the volunteer guide to know more about volunteering at FOSS.IN/2005.

Q: If I volunteer, will I get paid?
A : No. There is no pay for a volunteer.

General

Q: If I lose my badge, will I get another one?
A : No. Keep your badge very carefully till the end of the event. As a security measure only delegates with badges will be allowed into the premises. If you loose your badge, you will need to re-register to get another badge.

Q: Do I have to register every day?
A: No, the registration fee is for all conference days.

Q: What discounts for bulk registrations from companies?
A: Oye, give us a break! It's just 500 bucks per head! However, since you asked - it's 10% off for 100 or more registrations from one organisation, paid for with one DD

Q: Can we bring the payment for bulk registrations to the venue?
A: Yes, but only if it is by Demand Draft or Cash. No cheques, sorry.

Q: Any discount if I attend only on one day?
A: No. It's 500 bucks per delegate if you attend one day or all.

Q: I lost my delegate card which I got when I registered at the venue. What do I do?
A: No problem - you can get a new one by paying Rs.500 at the counter

Q: I forgot to bring my registration code. What do I do?
A: No problem, for an extra 200 bucks (total of 1000), we'll let you in anyway. Please fill the form at the counter.

Q: Love the T-Shirt. Can I buy another?
A: Sure - there will be stall somewhere selling swag.

Q: Will you take credit cards or cheques at the venue?
A: No. Please bring 5 crisp 100 buck notes.

Q: I wont be attending on all days, can I give my pass and coupons to a friend to attend on the days that I am not?
A: We don't approve of it, but can't really stop you. But it is just 500 bucks, why not do your thing to support the event by buying your friend his/her very own registration?

Q: Can I attend only the evening entertainments or movie show?
A: Sure - tickets are 500 bucks. :)

Q: Where is the official smoking area at the venue?
A: Just outside the main gate. Watch out for trucks coming from the right.

Q: What is the refund policy?
A: There isn't any, sorry.

Privacy Policy

Q: Can I have a copy of the delegate database with email addresses?
A: ROTFL! (Rolling on the floor laughing) NO!

Q: I'll pay you for it!
A: You don't have enough money.

Q: I do! I am Bill Gates!
A: You still don't have enough money to make us break our privacy policy.
